Thank You, Outgoing Board Members!

This month, GLAD House has said goodbye to two of our retiring board members, David Lindner and Gary Dunbar. Both members have made an extraordinary difference to GLAD House and in the lives of the children we serve.

Gary Dunbar, Divisional President of Great American Insurance Group, joined the GLAD House Board of Directors in April of 2012. During this time, GLAD House was located on the St. Aloysius campus, and we were looking for a building of our own to accommodate our expanding population of kids. Gary was instrumental in the process of finding the perfect building for our program, and helping the transition! Thanks to Gary, GLAD House is now located in our own beautiful building directly next to a park, playground, and baseball court. Gary has since served on the Finance and Governance committees, and has helped develop the framework that will allow GLAD House to grow for years to come.

A poem and picture created by two GLAD House sisters to thank Gary Dunbar for his service

David Lindner, Vice President & Director of Marketing at UDF, has been involved with GLAD House from our very beginning, back in 1994. He joined our founder, Dr. Beatrice Lampkin, on the planning team that originally met in her very own home before moving to Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church. David was the very first chair of the Development Committee, and helped raise over one million dollars so that GLAD House could open its doors in 1998. He even designed GLAD House’s logo, and our first brochure! Since then, David has been an unwavering supporter of GLAD House, and has served on almost every committee.

Thank You, to Gary Dunbar

by Kaley, age 10

You are so amazing

You are like butterflies in the sky

GLAD House is thankful about everything

So I made this poem for you

You are a bee getting honey

For the other bees

So thank you for everything

Thank you, David and Gary, for your tremendous support of the GLAD House kids!
