September is National Recovery Month—a time to celebrate that recovery from the disease of addiction is possible and to honor the strength of individuals and families on this journey.

At GLAD House, we know that when a caregiver struggles with substance use, children carry a heavy burden too. Our kids often face instability, loss, and trauma—but they also show incredible resilience when given the support and care they need.

Recovery is not just about one person—it’s about healing the whole family. Through trauma-informed therapy, prevention education, and safe, supportive spaces, GLAD House helps children find hope, build coping skills, and begin their own path to recovery.

The National Association for Children of Addiction (NACoA) has many resources to help families with kids, including toolkits and ways to talk to your kids about recovery.
